Who Is Glenn Mire?

First and foremost, Glenn is someone committed to each and every person he works with, achieving the maximum fulfillment of their goals.  One of the first things he will tell people when they meet is, “You won’t find anyone who listens to you in such a powerful way.”  Sometimes he is more committed to your success than you are!

Before opening his own Computer and Networking business, Glenn spent 25 years in the corporate IT world.  He has dealt with many aspects of the business world including customer support, technical analysis, marketing, management, teaching, sales, financial planning, budgeting and networking.  All of his business has been built through referrals and word of mouth advertising.

When asked what his Core Values are he tells people, “Making a difference in people’s lives, living full-out in adventure, being straight with people and being compassionate”.

Through training at Coachville, Johnston Consulting Group and Landmark Education, Glenn has developed a finely tuned ear for listening to what is either missing or is in the way of people achieving what they say they want.  As he tells them, “My skill lies not only in hearing what is being said, but a lot of the time it’s listening for what they aren’t saying”.

He has a very easy going manner but also a very rigorous approach in supporting you in the process of working toward your goals.

It has been said that when you find your passion, it stops being work.  His passion is coaching and he loves having the opportunity to assist people in creating a better life.  What’s your passion?

Why Coaching?

More and more, coaching is becoming the extraordinarily successful solution to taking performance to the next level.  Sports figures and top Fortune executives are realizing that the old paradigm of ‘I can do it myself’ is limiting and suppressing what’s possible.  Given that whatever they were doing up to this point was sufficiently effective to get them there, it is now insufficient to take them to the next level.  How do we know that?  If it were sufficient to raise the bar, they would have already done it.

So, do you need a coach?  My view is, No, you do not need a coach.  Can you benefit from one?  Almost anyone can benefit from a business or personal coach.  A coach brings an extra set of eyes and ears to the blocks you are experiencing.  We all have blind spots when dealing with things closest to us.  We’ve all had the experience of having someone point out an obvious solution to something we’ve been struggling with, whether it be how to take on a new market, or find a way to patch up a damaged relationship.

Another aspect of business or life coaching is accountability.  How many times have you set goals that are important to you, only to find a year later that very little was actually accomplished?  Accountability is having someone who is committed to your success regularly and, in some cases, rigorously reminding you of your own commitment and the plans you made to achieve it.

At this point you may be asking yourself, how do I pick a business or personal coach?  What’s next?  What should I be expecting from the coaching program?

Before we go there, a critical question must be asked.  Are you coachable?  You may say, “Of course I am!” with righteous indignation.  But are you?  If you are, great!  If you’re not, it’s not wrong, it’s just going to be a big waste of time and money.

If you are coachable, then the next step is to meet with a couple of them, preferably someone referred to you.  It is critical in the coaching process that you feel some affinity with your coach.  You will be delving into some possibly very intimate and private areas of your life and if you don’t feel comfortable sharing that with that particular coach, it won’t work, or will be very ineffective.  Likewise, if your business or personal coach immediately starts telling you what it is that you should be doing, thank them and leave.  No one knows how to run your business or life better than you, and they need to be asking a lot of questions to find out what it is that you want and need, not supplying answers to unasked questions.

I get asked quite frequently, “How long will it take?”  It’s a tough question to answer, because it depends on many factors.  For instance, how big is the goal, how long has the situation existed, how committed are the players, how coachable are they, frequency of the meetings, amount of time available for the assignments (yes, there is homework) and many others.  I’ve had a client resolve his dilemma in an hour and a half session and I’ve worked with another for over a year to achieve their goal.  Sometimes it’s ongoing as we just keep raising the bar.  Everyone is unique.  For the bigger plans, expect 2-3 months to really start seeing progress.  Remember, you may have taken years to develop the structures and habits that got you to where you are today.  It’s not going to turn around overnight.

Each business or personal coach has their own style and manner.  It is important it match with your style.  How rigorous can they be compared to what you can handle?  To what level and degree can the conversation dig into those sensitive areas?  My initial job is to establish those boundaries up front with the client.  It includes the goals, expectations and measurable outcomes as well as the date we will accomplish them.

Fees and Formats

How much is coaching?  What does it look like?  How often do we meet?  Do we meet?  Is it over the phone?  Is it one-on-one or group sessions?  All of these are specific to the needs of the client and the flexibility of the coach.  Coaching fees can run anywhere from $125/hr and up for Personal & Life coaching, to $250/hr and up for Business coaching, depending on the clients, the tasks, the timeframes and the circumstances.  Sessions generally run 45 minutes to one hour, although one and a half hour sessions occasionally occur.

My own fees are based on the clients’ requirements; a lower fee for personal and life coaching, and the higher fee for business coaching that is focused on expanding profits.  Typically, the sessions are face to face for about one hour per week.  Payments are with check or credit card for one month in advance.

There are also occasions where I will take on a specific consulting type project for a flat fee.

Definitions

Some of the terms I use have specific meanings to me.  To clarify, here are a few:

Coaching:  To support, assist and inspire someone to achieve their greatest potential, beyond what even they may see.

Responsibility:  Owning what you say or do with no excuses.

Success:  Whatever brings you the level of joy, fulfillment and satisfaction in life that you determine is acceptable.

Accountability:  Inside of being responsible, owning the results and the consequences of your actions and words.  Being held to your promise to perform.

Choosing:  Picking a course of action powerfully after giving due consideration and then following the path.

Commitment:  A promise to oneself to follow a plan regardless of all the reasons why not.
